DEATH OF A MET STAGEHAND 1972

In his 1977 book, Musical Chairs, former Met General Manager Schuyler Chapin reveals that two days after incoming Met head Goeran Gentele had been killed in a car crash, a stagehand fell through a trap to his death, and the news was never made public. Gentele died on July 18th, 1972 at which point Chapin was named acting GM;  the hand fell on July 20th.
